A total of 900 of the 2,413 youth corps members deployed to Kano State for National Youth Service have been re-posted to other states of the country due to the recent terrorist attacks in the state.
The state’s NYSC Coordinator, Bashir Yakasai, made this known during the passing out parade of Batch ‘A’ corps members from the orientation camp on Tuesday in Karaye local government area of the state.
Yakasai said that prior to the recent bomb blast in Sabon Gari, very few corps members had indicated interest to be re-deployed after the orientation programme.
He urged the corps members to make the best use of the skills they had acquired during their orientation course, to enable them be self-reliant.
Earlier, Governor Rabi’u Kwankwaso urged the corps members not to entertain any fear as the state government would provide adequate security for their lives and property.
Kwankwaso, who was represented by his Deputy, Abdullahi Ganduje, however urged them to respect the norms and culture of their host communities during their stay in the state.
The governor also warned employers against rejection of the corps members, stressing that ministries had been directed to give them all the necessary assistance they would require.
